Sorry, another thread to ask about somewhere. Very tough buying when you don't know the place.
Seems better value than Morley/Tingley where we were looking. Primary and Secondary schools are excellent. Good transport to Leeds/Wakefield for other half to get to work and not too far from where my job is.
So, what are they like, are they cheap for good reason?

Ha, yes cheap for the obvious reasons! Only bits of Wakefield I would consider would be Horbury, Sandal or Crigglestone.0

I always thought outwood was ok, there's worse places in wakefield. I get on the train at sandal and it is a lovely area if you have a few extra pounds though (and I mean a few extra) I don't live in Wakefield but I do go through wakefield a lot, so I've seena few areas and I think it's like anywhere else nice parts and not so nice parts.
Good luck in the house searching x0 -
We looked a lot at Morley/Tingley (I work in Morley) and near Outwood too.
We didn't go quite as far as Outwood but looked a lot at Lofthouse, Robin Hood and East Ardsley which are just up the road and much nicer than Morley and Tingley. As you say, the transport links are excellent for both Leeds and Wakefield and public transport is excellent too. I have lived in Lofthouse before which was pretty good and we have had an offer accepted on a house in Robin Hood. I'm not entirely sure why prices seem lower as crime is much lower in these areas and there is a lot more green space too.
Morley aint that great, it's very much a town in decline in terms of the high street due to competition from the White Rose etc. Several of my colleagues live in Morley and none have a good opinion of it. I don't really know Tingley very well but from out driving round and speaking to friends who are local it seemed like a no no and again it appears to have a higher crime rate than other areas.
Depends what your budget is really...0 -
