It was discovered at our office (400 people) that the cleaners were taking all the plastic cups out of the recycle bins and putting them into the general rubbish!

They have now been told that they must put in them in the proper place but we have a high turnover of cleaning staff and it's much easier to just empty them all into a black bin bag.

Much better to have your own cup!!

I work at a small company and I tried to get them to reclycle paper and hit a brick wall... apparently we don't go through enough paper to bother... I nearly freaked! We don't go through as much as a big company but surely every bit helps! However it would seem not according to the directors... grrrr

Ofcourse we do :) But they are concerned it would take effort or worse... MONEY to do anything...
I think we go through 5 reams of paper a week at least (ie a box) but apparently it's not "worth getting a recycling bin thing for"... *excuse me whilst I have a fit!*

We've been notified at work that we will soon have a legal obligation to sort out waste and recycle where possible. Not sure if this applies to all companies or only ones who buy more than x tonnes on materials. I will check tomorrow if I remember.

If your comany is ISO 14001 registered, you could always volunteer to be your company rep. Try and sort them out that way. :)
