Hi - can you help me. I recently have just managed to get all my ducks in a row and have a great credit score on Experian now. All healthy accounts etc etc.
However I checked Equifax and everything is fine apart some random company that has a record on my report from 2005.
Basically it shows 4 months in 2005 as AP - the every month from then until Feb 2010 just shows UC (no update).
I dont owe them any money - but I'm a little afraid to rock the boat as if they update their records it might show a couple more years of AP and right now I'm not sure if any creditors would take any notice of an account with no update for 6-7 years. I just got a mortgage 4 months ago and they searched on Equifax and didnt even ask me about it (even though they did on another record)
I also dont know if Equifax would be able to just delete the record - my guess is they would probably request info from the creditor and then the problem.
Any ideas of how to just get this record either removed or looking a little less dubious?
I dont if I should just leave it - like I said it doesnt even appear on Experian

Is the account a closed one? If so, when was it closed? If it was closed 6 years ago or more then it should've already been taken off your report. What will your verse be?

If the account isn't showing as settled/satisfied and closed, then Equifax should only be showing data from the past 6 years. Raise a complaint with them. What will your verse be?

ok - but it will still just show hundres of "not updated" records and I would like it to be completely removed.
I'm just a bit worried and wonder weather it should be best to just leave it alone.
If I rock the boat and they update the record it could show a few late payments 2-3 years ago0 -

Did you ever owe the company money or are you saying it shouldn't be on your report at all? If the company is a debt collection agency it may have bought the debt from someone else.
If you did owe this company money, when did you finish paying them back?
In any event, I don't think Equifax will need to contact the company to remove data over 6 years old. What will your verse be?

You seem to be being purposefully vague here...
Who is "some random company?" You either knew who the company was and you had an agreement with them or the data on your credit report is wrong...
Also AP means arrangement to pay, that is when you agree a reduced amount with your creditors and is technically a default.
If this information is incorrect then you do need to raise a dispute with the CRA but you seem reluctant to do so?0 -

My thoughts exactly but couldn't be bothered to post.0 -

No no I did owe them money that was arrange monthly for about a year. Paid that all off about 2-3 years ago but they've never updated their record. I wasn't a default
I'm just worried that bringing everything up might more a bad than good idea0
