Letting agents & Credit checks

As you can see in my signature below i'm on a Debt Management Plan with PayPlan - it's going well and i'm getting debt free one step at a time!
I'm moving for work in September and want to start renting on my own (rather than flat/house shares) which i can afford having just worked out my budget if I dealt with bills on my own.
I'm just wondering if I go through a letting agency, pay the intial set up fees they charge for paperwork, credit checks etc how likely am I to be accepted/rejected being on a DMP and am I right in assuming I wouldn't get that money back if I was rejected?
I've never missed a rent payment the whole time i've been doing it (at least 10 years) but this has been a mix of private landlords and one agency which was pre-debt about 5 years ago - these won't be on my credit file (I assume) as they were all done to individual landlords banks etc and only once to an agency's bank account.
My biggest concern is losing money through fees I won't get back if i'm rejected and also the embarrassment of being rejected (my plan would be to tell them upfront i'm on a DMP)
Thanks for your help!

unless you have ccjs you will be fineDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

In my experience, just be up front right from the start, the letting agents will sometimes chat to the landlord first before going ahead with an application. Worst case scenario would be a guarantor or 3-6 months rent up front.
Hope this helps0 -
Thanks, you've both put my mind at ease!0
