PPI policy number???? Help!

Hello,

I had a car loan from Direct Auto Finance, wrote my SAR letter and now have all my details. I DID pay PPI and I DID declare that I was self employed. It was at the end of the day and they were closing so my details were rushed through and at no time did I hear the word 'optional' when purchasing the PPI. I was , however, given leaflets to read but by the time I had any time to read them the papers were already signed.
I am now moving on to the next stage of my claim but the forms ask for a PPI policy number and I don't have this information. It doesn't appear anywhere on the disc they sent me. Can someone please advise me as to where to get this information or can I still claim without it?

Thanks.

Just use the loan number - they've already shown they have records of the loan/ppi by their SAR response.

If it was sold prior to Janaury 2005 they can dismiss your complaint as they weren't regulated.

  • I took it out in 2004 but paid up until 2008.....does this still mean they can dismiss it?

THe date of sale is the key date. Not the period you had it.

I have just received settlement of £2598 on PPI miss sold on a mortgage that ended over 12 years ago. We had statements but no policy number. They paid out no question :)

If the firm was regulated by or a member of an earlier body then they have to consider pre FSA regulation complaints.

The OP is talking about car finance and car dealers did not become regulated until January 2005.

Oh yes so they are - the perils of skim reading - but my success may just make others think and put a claim in on policies older than 6 years as so much is said about dont bother if its more than 6 years old :)

    Good luck anyway OP !

Are you saying your car dealer was regulated by the FSA before the FSA required them to be?

Did your car dealer pay out or did the lender? Some dealers were acting as sole agent for the lender and the lender carries the liability.

it is not possible to know in most cases the position of the dealer until you complain and get your response. They will either pass to the lender or reject as pre-regulation.

It wasn't a car loan, it was a mortgage. They have applied their circumstances and compalint to someone else. Wrongly.
