warmfront boiler installed in 2009 for gran

And no building regs compliance cert anywhere now we have to sell the house since she passed and the helpline number now doesnt exist , redirects you to carillion services , who in turn say they can not help

any ideas which way to turn ?

tried the house forum but think this one may be more appropriate!

Cheers

Checked with the boiler manufacturer to see if it was registered for the warranty?

I havent , but i am sure it wasnt because at the time gran was `independant` and i wasnt involved in her daily life as i was towards the end , obviously worth calling them though which i will do

we did arrange a yearly service though , proof of which we have sent to the solicitors along with install paperwork etc

Well , i got throught to warmfront--> then Gas safe ---> then left a message with CORGI as it was in early 2009 , apparently the engineer doesnt have to notify gassafe (or CORGI) back then if he installed a boiler , but he was supposed to notify building control , to sign it off

According to gassafe who have acces to CORGIS records , there is no record of any works at Grans , even though i am sat here with the GAS SAFETY install sheet , duly signed by the engineer etc

The engineer is from newcastle 300 miles from here , so presumably he was installing a few in the area , how many didnt get signed off i wonder!!
Anyway , i can pay to have it retrospectivley signed off , and claim it directly from the guy , which sounds like a pain in the ar*e really , but i am aware if i do that , i will invalidate any indemnity the purchases may be planning to take out ? although not sure how that works , surley they will just continue servicing it like we did ?

You need to check with Gas Safe to see if has been registered, they in turn will have notified BC however 2009 was the year it changed from Corgi to GS so it could have been either of them, carillon took over the contract from Eaga & they should have details of the past installs, BTW it was Eaga's job to reg the boiler with Corgi/Gas Safe not the installation co

GASSAFE say no , it hasnt , as above , they have no record of our property nor any works there , they can see CORGIS records , again , no sign , Carillion put me through to warmfront as anything over 2 years old , apparently they have no record.....

Feel like i am going in circles

Eaga plc Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 1BR were in charge of the warmfront contract back then, I don't have a contact no for them but might be worth a goggle

Dan-Dan, I had a similar problem just last week. Currently selling my property and overlooked fact that i never got a building regs cert for a boiler installed in 2010. Contacted Gas Safe and they had no record for my address. So contacted the engineer (you say you have the paperwork with the engineer's installation details) and gave them merry hell that they hadn't fulfilled the paperwork. They gave me the notification number which I was able to go back to Gas Safe with - turns out it had been notified but with a slightly different address (same house number but without my house name), and therefore the cert had probably been posted to wrong house in 2010.

Gas Safe agreed to send me a new copy of cert although said this can take up to 10 days. They will only send it to the installation address though.

So: you need to contact the engineer - express your surprise and concern that there is no cert and GS have no record, and can he shed any light? The engineer should wet his pants at that point if he hasn't done his job correctly OR he will be able to give you the notification number. If not, strongly suggest he registers the boiler with them though and gets the cert sent out.

I think the reason some independent engineers don't do this is because there is a charge involved in notifying to GS so they just pocket the charge that was undoubtedly included in the customer's installation price.

sometimes you need to read the replies

back then this is how it worked, install co does the work & issues a CP12, a month later Eaga inspects the job, then Eaga reg the boiler with the manu & GS, it never was the installer or the install co job to reg the boiler, Eaga supplied the boilers/rads/controls through plumb center, the install co supplied any pipe/fittings/labour.

the charge for reg a boiler on-line is £2-50 so hardly yippee we have ripped off little ole Mrs Jones by not reg her boiler so lets go for a night on the pizz,

sometimes you need to get your facts right before jumping down the poor engineers throat

Just to add to this thread , the service sheets we were having done yearly , plus the install certificate from the boiler , was enough for our buyer and they havent requested an inspection or retro regs

    Thanks

Well talk about speaking to soon, just had this from the solicitor

Your buyer has confirmed that they have received the result of their local authority search and that the search does indicate a Corgi Installation Certificate under reference 104955189. This is positive as it does appear that the person who installed the boiler was conscientious enough to register it with the local authority on the Competent Persons Scheme. In those circumstances the purchaser is asking for production of the certificate. Corgi can often provide a replacement certificate if they are called on 0800 408 5500. There is a charge and you may wish to pay them directly. Please give them the reference number. If this proves difficult please let me know
