Aqualisa Quartz Digital Shower problem - dripping head

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right section so please feel free to move if needed.
The shower head started dripping quite a lot. I contacted Aqualisa who said it will cost £260 to sort the problem out. After a quick google it turns out it's a common problem and that the company say it's not a serviceable part. The cure, according to some is to lube the mixer plates inside so it no longer allows water to pass through when turned off.
I'm not too keen on paying that amount to possibly have the same problem somewhere down the line again, as it's close to purchase new shower territory. Has anyone had the problem and sorted it out cheaper or could someone recommend a like for like shower that’s not so sensitive?
Thanks

Our Aqualisa shower was leaking - it went from an occasional drip to a steady trickle over the course of a few weeks. I think ours was the cartridge or something, in any case a c£90 part. The shower was c10 years old or more so we replaced it with a new one for c£250 that came with a new 5 year warranty. I had contcted Aqualisa Customer Services, who are very good, and established which shower in today's range would be the best like-for-like replacement to facilitate fitting it and mean we didn't have to re-tile.
We asked our electrician to fit it but he said he wouldn't take our money and that my OH could do it easily, which he did.0 -
Fair play to your electrician, I wish Aqualisa would be that nice to me0

I have blogged about how I fixed my Aqualisa shower here: http://www.simon-hart.net/repair/dripping-aqualisa-shower-fix/
It was dead easy and only cost me a few pounds.0 -

I tried the above solution (paid a very competent plumber friend to do this) but unfortunately it didn't work for me. Fair play to sihart68 for putting together the guide as it is very thorough. I'm in a hard water area and the limescale had built up inside unit. Unit was cleaned out and lots of grease put in the necessary places (FYI although not available from Amazon via his link, you can find the recommended grease on eBay - I paid £10 + £3.19 P&P). Shower head still continued to drip so it was stripped once again and re-greased. I saw inside the unit so understand how it works now. We thought it might have been the springs inside which had lost some of their 'springiness' to keep valves shut so these were stretched slightly to inject some new life into them but with no success. In fact it started to drip more.
Contacted Aqualisa and options were:
1. Repair/replace processor unit, replace old-style blue light with newer amber light version on main thermostat controller, remote not replaced. 2yr guarantee. £260 incl VAT.
2. Replace everything apart from remote. 5yr guarantee. £500 incl VAT.
Aqualisa engineer now booked for Option 1. For me the moral of the story is 'Buy on price, pay twice'.0
