Hello all
I was wondering if you could help me help a friend.
She claimed WTC for 12/13 and was awarded some £1700 for the year based on 11/12 earnings:
State pension: £6089
PAYE: £6855
Private pension: £470
Come renewal time when figures used were from 12/13
State pension: £6246
PAYE: £5001
Private pension: £495
All figures gross.
She was told to repay £519 and awarded nothing for this new year. Despite a lower income.
She's working for the same employer throughout, in the 16-29 hours category each week, single, no dependants, home owner, not disabled/ carer or in hospital.
entitled to website shows an entitlement to £36.89...
Am I missing something..?
Thanks

She needs to have been working for a minimum of 30 hours a week to claim WRC.0 -

16 hours a week at national minimum wage is £5150.08 so something is wrong somewhere. Based on total earnings of £5001 and the minimum wage she has only averaged about 15.5 hours per week. It's someone else's fault.0 -
Thanks,
Some (small) pension payments are made, hence it looks like below min wage, when it is not. Pay is not much above NMW though.0 -

No wonder compliance keep getting cases wrong, they use the same theory. There are whole list of legitimate reasons why someone would be under the NMW x 16 (or 30).
The fall in income will be ignored for finalising 12/13 because of a disregard for falls in income of 2,500.
That means there must be something else wrong with the 12/13 claim as it should still be based on 11/12 income.
I would suggest she take her paperwork along to CAB or similar.
