Capital One rant

I've got my credit card on minimum repayment by direct debit in case an emergency happens and I don't get the bill paid.
A couple of months back my Capital One card was cloned, so they cancelled it and issued me with a new one. I asked to stay on minimum direct debit with the new card, and noticed the new mandate in the list at the bank when I was cancelling something else.
At the end of April they didn't collect the direct debit and due to me being very ill in pregnancy and Charlottes premature arrival on May 5th, I didn't notice their payment hadn't been collected.
Although the direct debit is still showing as set up with my bank, Capital One are saying it's cancelled and have hit me with missed payment fees.
And according to the call centre, it's all my fault somehow
I wrote a letter of complaint as it's not my fault they cancelled the direct debit and never told me.
I've had a standard "claiming your charges back" letter this morning, telling me how to run my account and why they apply charges. They have refunded my late fee, which I am pleased about.
I'm cheesed off with the letter though as they clearly did not read the letter I wrote as non of my points have been addressed. It was the mis-management of the account which was my main complaint.
Since sending my letter, I rang them and set up the direct debit again by phone. I've had a second letter from them this morning to say the direct debit has now been cancelled - aarrrggghhh

Vote with your feet, there are a lot of better cards out there.
When I changed banks a few years back, two of the three entities that messed up the transfer of Direct Debits were The Woolwich (mortgage, which I made them rectify) and CitiBank (work credit card, which again I made them take the fees off).
Both started with trying to blame me, but that is because they don't ever make mistakes.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0
