First MOT due

Options
My car will be due its first MOT on August 3rd. The third service is also due. I was wondering if it would be better to have the service done now, get any work done, and then have the MOT done separately, or to have the service and MOT done together? Obviously it would be more of a pain to go to the garage twice, but the car will still be under warranty until the 3rd. What do people think?

Get both done before the warranty expiration date, for the obvious reason that you may need to call on your warranty one final time...

    What TP says.

Remember that you can have the MOT done any time now and it'll be dated from the 3rd anyway under the "due within a month" rules.

You must produce the V5 showing the registration date at the time of the MOT, and tell them very slowly and clearly that they will date the MOT from the registration not the calendar.

(Unless something has changed recently ;))
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

But, it doesn't really matter if you lose a few days, does it...

No need to produce the v5 and treat them like retards.

Maybe things have changed recently. 2 years ago I lost a couple of weeks because I assumed that they would simply date from the registration date. The tester told me, rightly or wrongly, that I should have told him I wanted the extra days and given him the V5 to get them put on. It wasn't worth chasing.

Thanks for your comments, my first MOT is due at the beginning of November and Service isn't due until the end of November but it has a 5 yr warranty and I was wondering about the same point which has been raised, so found this very helpful.

In case your wondering, the car was taxed ready for collection at the beginning of the month but I was not well enough to pick it up for a few weeks, so my service date is later in the month.

If it's the first MOT being done at the main dealer then I would presume they will have it on their system already without needing to see the V5.

How strange. If the service intervals are yearly then it should be from the date the car was registered, not when you picked it up.

It seems like a lot of messing to book your car in twice and visit the garage twice - I'd get the service done 'early' - you may even get a better deal having them done together.
