                    Grrrrrrrr
Partly my fault I know! When i listed the item I charged £2 postage and its default 1st class on the listing. However when I came to post it was £2 for second class and £2.52 fo first. So I posted 2nd, emailed the buyer that it was by second as I had undercharged. The label clearly said £2. This was next post after payment.
I got a positive BUT it mentioned that I sent by 2nd and not 1st....sounds as if I was trying to do them!!! Am I getting het up about nowt?
OK ...need to get digital scales and up to date mail price list!

Just my opinion, but if I had paid for first class, I would have expected first class. It was your fault, really, that you had underestimated. I've done it before as a seller, and had to stand the cost. You're pretty lucky they left you a positive still.
I agree about the scales and upgrading your postal costs!

You could of got a negative as you didnt send the item via the service you promised on the listing. You can always upgrade posting if you so wish, I have occasionaly to recorded. But you should never downgrade the postage, this annoys buyers no end.0

For the sake of 52p I would have posted it first class as promised. When hubby does our listings and is working out p+p he uses digital scales and always has RM website page open in the background so he can check postal charges straightaway.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

Completely your fault, think you escaped lightly. My last one cost £4 more than I charged for P+P sold a dvd player got 50% of the price that was the going rate on EBay and undercharged for the P+P, could have sent it as a parcel but thought I might end up with nothing.
You have to take these on the chin and promise yourself that you will be more careful in the future.0 -
Once or twice I've taken a hit over P&P now I always weigh the item and check on RM website exact cost2p off is still 2p off!0

Yeah, you should have taken the hit and sent it first. If a business phoned you up and said 'the courier price has gone up so the goods wont be with you tomorrow but we can deliver them on friday', you would have little sympathy with them. It was your mistake, not the buyers.0

I once really underestimated my postage by £5 but as I had promised first class recorded delivery then thats what they got. It was my fault not theirs. I agree that you are lucky to have received a positive and not even a neutral. You just have to take it on the chin and accept you made a mistake.0

OP - for the sake of 52p it would have been better to send it how you stated it would be sent, it is up to you to set the postage after all, and the buyer can only go by what you ask for!
You got a positive though so I dont see a problem, just let it be a lesson for the future. No harm done I guess. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -
have to agree with all the above, you are very lucky not to have gotten a neg or neutrel. sometimes ive got it wrong, but it would have cost me more to get the bus to check the item than what i 'lost' aslo i got very good feedback when the buyer realised id paid extra0
 -
i'd have paid the 52p. you could always put a comment on the feedback saying 'corrected postage costs for future listings - thanks!' or something like that?0
