Buying a resale property

Hello all,

Just would like to double check if anybody experienced buying a resale property before and what is the exact procedure with the offers, can you actually negotiate the price
- The flat we are going for is offered on 35%, but we would like to buy 80% as we that is what we can afford and would like to go for, is that possible or 75% is the maximum cap for re-sales
- Can we offer 2-3% less the asking price when we make the offer to the seller or on re-sales it doesn't work as on the standard property market

Thanks a lot in advance, help and advice will be much appreciated

    Me too - what's a resale property?
  • Shared Ownership re-sales, (it has already been bought as shared ownership 4-5 years ago, and now the owners want to move out and the property goes for a resale by the Developer first on the same shared ownership criteria)

Eh, I wouldn't buy a shared-ownership property if they were flogging them off for a fiver.

Generally I believe you have to buy the actual share on offer & once bought then take steps with the HA to 'staircase' to a higher % of ownership.

Regarding offers, if being sold via the HA, they aren't always willing to budge on valuation price (which often is the asking price). However, you can put in a lower offer & the worse that can happen is they say no.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
