PDSA catchment areas?

Hi, I live in a very remote area of Scotland, in the far north. I have my Lurcher, Molly, registered as a PDSA patient at my local practice (the only one in my area). Unfortunately, Molly has ruptured both Achilles tendons in her back legs and needs an operation. My vet is unwilling to operate as they are not sufficiently experienced. However, my nearest PDSA hospital is in Edinburgh.
Can I take my dog there? They are my nearest PDSA hospital but I am at least a 5 hour drive away. I rang the PDSA and they could only tell me that I should see my own vet.
Anyone have any experience of this? Many thanks in advance.
