HOW TO get cheap tyres for your car (Ebay)

I own a BMW 3 series and it cost me £180 for two tyres last time I replaced them (I'm sure I could of got them cheaper in retrospect). So this time I was determined to get them cheaper.

What I did was to buy the same alloy wheels I have on my car with brand new tyres for £226, I then proceeded to sell my existing alloys (after I cleaned them up a little) for £142. My alloys only had two tyres with 4mm of tread and the other two needed replacing.

So I effectively replaced all my tyres for £21 a tyre, quite a bargain I feel.

Just thought someone else could use this technique for saving money on tyres.

I dont know of any BMW alloys that cost that for a single wheel let alone the tyre too. You rob them off a shopping trolley?

yep ive noticed on e-bay it would pay u to buy some alloys+tyres as they would cost the same as the tyres alone from elsewhere so really ur getting the alloys for nothing(or very little)if u needed new tyres anyway.

I recently bought 5 good tyres on steel wheels form local scrap yard for £27 total. OK, these weren't BMW but nissan micra! Still, at £5.40 per wheel with tyre I will always be going to the crap yard for replacements from now on! Just had to remove them and fit them myself.

Oh, that'll be the SCRAP yard then!

Forget to mention, when buying tyres ready fitted to the wheel, like I have done, then you wont know if they have been balenced. Maybe you should remember to fit wheels to the same corner
(ie put the rear wheel from the donor car onto the rear of your car, as its usually the rear wheels that people dont bother to balance properly)
