Disabled Parking

I wasn't being nasty or sarky - its a genuine feeling - that people expect the disabled to work - yet fail to realise that special measures have to be in place to allow that to happen. like putting in wheelchair ramps - or even realising stairs are a problem! putting disabled parking spaces near the entrance - not at the back of the car park! a little thought could make working life possible for disabled people.
Very true

Nope, just for the 'important' people. Nearest place you can park for more than 3 hours is £8 a day :eek:Best Win 2011 - VIP Trip to Vegas

I think it's 3 hours max on double yellows with a blue badge, so shoppers etc could do this but you wouldn't want to be moving the car every 3 hours through your working day

Is there a time limit on parking in the spaces? If not, what's the problem? That's what they are there for. If that's a problem for other people they should raise the issue with the council and ask for them to be time limited.
However one thing does occur to me - if you live or work in a building with no drive/offstreet parking the council will often agree to paint a disabled space outside the building for that person to park in. It is on the public highway so it isn't their own personal private space but its put there at their request.
Is it possible that the employer has made this arrangement with the council by way of reasonable adjustments for these two disabled workers? Or disabed employees of the company generally. How would you know? In fact what reason would there be for you know?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

I guess the problem is that for a whole day a disabled space is being 'hogged' by one user.2014 Target;

My point remains the same - if the council view this as a problem they would limit it to three hours which is the normal limit for on street parking in a disabled bay. The fact that there is no time limit means there is no time limit.I'm a retired employment solicitor. This is true, just like non disabled spaces can be hogged by one user. Its a problem many drivers face when trying to park near to work.mountainofdebt wrote: »I guess the problem is that for a whole day a disabled space is being 'hogged' by one user.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Obviously I don't know how long they've been doing this or whether it annoys other drivers who could use these spaces but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't long before there is a time limit placed on these spacesThis is true, just like non disabled spaces can be hogged by one user. How is that a comparable situation? Non disabled spaced are not at a premium like disabled spaces....might be a pita but not such a big deal if you've got mobility issues2014 Target;
