Automatic to manual test
Options
Hi,
My friend is planning on taking her manual test, after holding an automatic only licence for several years.
As she already holds a full licence will she need L plates when practicing using a manual car?
Cant seem to find any info on the DVLA website.

What do you think?
She doesn't hold a licence for a manual car will need someone with her too.0 -
You would assume she does need L plates. She's not licensed to drive a manual, so surely all the laws that apply normally would also apply to her0

Although she holds a "Full" entitlement for Automatics if she looks at the rear of her licence she should see that she has "Provisional" entitlement for manual car. Therefore she is required by law to display L Plates and also be accompanied by a full licence holder over the age of 21 who has held a full manual licence for 3 years or more.0
