4 weeks run on with benefits

Does any know if the 4 weeks run on with rent and council tax benefits still exit after you sign off.

Has the job grant stopped also, as i asked my adviser today, he seems to think its still running. I read somewhere it was stopped from April 1st this year.

I have not signed off yet but i will do on Sunday as i am starting full time work on Monday 22 July.

I rang working tax credits today and went through a calculator estimate and it was £52.08 a week, which is fine they will send out a new pack.

Thank you for your help.

It is still available, but this is down to the individual council's discretion, ring them as soon as possible to discuss and find out how to apply for this if it is still available in your area.

I've put some bits on bold for you.
  • Yes it still exists - as long as you have received a qualifying benefit (or combination) for 26 weeks or more with no break and are starting work immediately without a break of signing off and the job is expected to last 5 weeks or more.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

I was sanctioned in august 2012 for 6 weeks, then i switched to jsa income based from JSA contributions in feb 2013. Yes the job is permanent.

I just faced up to my debts also, i will be better off in full time employment.

Thank you DomRavioli and Housing benefit officer.
  • If you start work on a Monday you will get full help until the following Sunday and then get 4 weeks run on - so in effect you get an extra 5 weeks help.
