Chilcare Voucher Question

Hi All,

I'm looking into getting joining a childcare voucher scheme through my Employer, however my CC Provider will Only accept Edenred vouchers and my Employer only Offers ComputerShare Vouchers.

Both Employer and CC provider are local councils, although different authorities and so are subject to a corporate procurement process for any new contracts (so additional/new schemes aren't easily put into place).

Would I be able to use the vouchers like this or do they have to be from the same voucher schemes.

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Becki

It seems a bit short-sighted of your child care provider to only accept one type of vouchers. My (private) nursery just registers with a new provider if needed, from what I can gather its not a big job...

I would put a formal request into the nursery that they accept the vouchers and see if it makes a difference. If not I don't think there's a great deal you can do, other than moving nurseries (which is probably not ideal). However, the system is changing late next year, so you may find the new scheme better for you under the circumstances.
  • Thanks for the speedy reply. I'll definitely ask, but as mentioned its a council one, which there's more than just setting up a new provider (red tape, or policies and procedures as they are know!).

I don't think the changes next year will have a great benefit to us

Our son turns 3 Xmas eve so we'll be eligible for our 15 hrs free (works out at 1.5 days at our CC provider, saving us £45 a week), but will be looking to move him into a school nursery from sept 2014 (they don't do a Jan intake!) and having a childminder for the other half day and getting our parents involved to further cut the cost of our childcare down to £50 a week (hopefully!)

    Many thanks,

    Becki
