Hi Guys
I have just received word from the Halifax that my claim for PPI has been rejected.
I took out a morgtage with Halifax bank of scotland in 2005 accompanied with PPI cover in case of ilness or unemployment.
We were told to take this from them to approve our loan.At the time i was in full time employment, My Wife was running her own buisness and we also had savings. The cover was for me only and not my wife.
The house was valued at £250,000 and we only had to borrow £65,000.
I have put in a claim but have just been informed that my claim has been rejected.
My question is should i accept this or appeal against their desicion.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you want to appeal it, appeal it.
If you don't, don't.0 -

Good enough complaint reasons for loans or credit cards, not good enough for mortgages.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Not a surprise. Most MPPI complaints are rejected. We were told to take this from them to approve our loan.
It is a weak complaint reason. Rarely does anyone have any evidence to support that. Do you?
Most complaints on that basis will be rejected unless something points to that being the case.At the time i was in full time employment, My Wife was running her own buisness and we also had savings. The cover was for me only and not my wife.
So, you were eligible for cover. So, that eliminates a complaint on that basis. My question is should i accept this or appeal against their desicion.
Your choice. All you know with mortgage PPI is that most complaints are rejected by the banks and the FOS. It suffers fewer issues than loan or credit card PPI and it covers a major debt with lifestyle changing consequences if that debt is not paid. It is considered a more important insurance than loan or credit card PPI and indeed today, it is one of only two types of PPI still retailed.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Received a letter this morning upholding my MPPI. It was originally rejected last year but I disputed their decision. It took the Halifax a year but they eventually upheld it. I was given the hard sell by the adviser back in the early 90's. I received the standard rejection letter but had contacted Halifax by phone when the PPI scandal broke in 2006 and was told I didn't have PPI. You can imagine my surprise when I received a letter from them a year ago saying they were transferring the PPI I didn't have. Received a call from them late last week and upheld today. I only dealt with the Halifax and did not have to take further although I would have done.
If you have a legitimate claim then I would send a letter disputing the rejection. Just to say MPPI's are difficult to claim on, you do need to have a really good reason for them to uphold your claim. I didn't have a health issue but did have a list of other reasons.
