i have just got off the phone with 3 different people.
the 1st, told me i have to pay £1-2 into my account for three months....
the 2nd, told me i have to pay a £10 one off before the 4th of july.
and the 3rd was trying to sell me a loan.
im 15.
i have been to my local branch and they told me i have to put £10 a month in for three months...£30 of money, which i havent got.
the account is for my wages...and i was meant to get paid two weeks ago.
the manager of the branch told me that my wages should still go into the account....but they havent...
someone help me?!
im so frustrated and angry at them. as soon im 16, its off to lloyds to open a debit account with them. much better. :j
Abbey have gone down the drain.
Thanks, Chris.

You should check where your wages went, if not into the Abbey account, and make sure they do go into the Abbey account. Once in there, you can always take it out if you need to.0

has the savings account not been active for a long time (ie could they have made it dormant)? Has your employer told you they have tried to pay it into the savings account (and it has been rejected by the bank)?
I would just re-open a new savings account (either abbey or elsewhere) and give your employer these details to use. Alternatively ask your parents or someone you trust if you could have your wages paid into their account in the short term while you get something else sorted out?Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
Hello!
MMmmm.. generally I thought you could only pay wages into a Current Account rather than a savings account. Many payroll systems only accept a sort code and bank account number (as opposed to a sort code, bank account and SAVINGS account number (or roll number etc) that savings accounts generally have) - hence the need to have Current Account as a destination bank accounr rather than savings.
I would suggest checking with your works payroll department to find ou where the money has gone, and make sure they have processed the full details you have provided.
ALthough I agree with your approach of saving as much as is possible, I think it would be get your wages paid into a current account (as you are intending to do) and then a regular standing order to move cash from your currnet account to the savings account.
Good luck!0 -
