My main criteria for names was that they had to be short and easy to spell, we have Amy Louise (later discovered that was extremely popular at that time), Craig (no middle name, couldn't decide on one, suited him well as it means "Rocky" and he looked like he'd done 12 rounds with Mike Tyson when he was born!) and Katy Anne (the only child with a family name, Anne, as my Nana died while I was pregnant)0

For boys I like really short names, my son is called Kai, we also thought of Fynn, Pel, Kes etc, I like the more unusal names but not weird ones
as for girls, if I was to have another daughter she would probably be called Greta or mayne Izanne0 -
I like the traditional names.
My daughter is Emily Grace and my son is Jack Joseph.
If I was to have anymore children I like the names Isobel Ann(Ann after my mother),Mathew,Evie.
Good luck finding a name and with the birth.Mfit member no 13 original balance £44000

Our baby is due in 7 weeks and then we have 3 weeks to register him. As names go, DH has one he likes i dont mind it but dont think i like it enough to call my son it. Ive been thru baby name books loads of times and just cant find anything!!
We use family names as middle names so have them but just cant find a first name, want something uncommon but not weird and certainly something he wont have to spell out for the rest of his life.
DS#1 is Joseph, hes the only one in his nursery / school class and the only one we know and its easy to spell. He was named after my fav football player!Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110 -
My brother and I both have middle names from people my parents really admired. I have always appreciated the thought, though I didn't use to like the name so much - Isobel - but I like it now because of the wonderful person it represents. That was my great-grandmother's name, my brother got my dad's mentor's name Benjamin which he has always liked.0

There's an advanced search where you can specify certain criteria. We're actively trying at the moment and have come up with the name Lincoln (it was my dads middle name), but have absolutely no idea for girls!
Good luck!0 -
Go for something that has only one really popular spelling that can also be shortened in later life if he wants to- like Daniel is only spelled one way but his mates can call him Danny when he's older.
Babies do grow into their names- no baby girl ever looked like an Arabella, but there are a few girls who do.
Choose something you like from lower down on the top 100 to cut down on having three of the same name in one class.
There was Cameron 1 and 2 at nursery(both boys)
And Cameron girl and Cameron boy at playgroup.
No surnames as first names- or ones that can be used for girls! Forbes, Mason, etc.
Something that doesn't share a name with men's bits- y'know, no John Thomases, Richards,Bobbies or Willies
:rotfl:
OK- names of kids quite recently named by parents I know- Zeke, Andromeda, Phoenix,Madison,Kai, Jay,and not forgetting good old Jack:D
If I had to choose I know which one I'd go for.:cool:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

We hadn't chosen a name for my DS 4th child when I was in labour. DH was so bored waiting he was reading the prayer book out of the locker and said how about Timothy so that is his name. I later discovered that many rich men are called Timothy so that's a bonus for him. Also I like names that are traditional, don't sound stupid when shortened, and don't embarass when paired with the surname.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
