British Gas Homecover Haggling

Hope this is the right place to post this.

I had my Homecover renewal through from British Gas for my annual boiler service; they quoted me about £81. I told them I had a cheaper quote from elsewhere, and the guy on the phone told me that they can offer up to 20% discount, taking it down to £65.

I hadn't actually had any other quotes, but was happy to go with them as they installed my boiler and I have been happy with the service since. Might be useful information for someone else though, particularly that 20% discount knowledge!
