Im wanting to change my intruder alarm from motion sensor to when there is vibrations on windows/doors.. the reason for this is I now have 2 cats.

Thanks

It is pretty easy to do. Alarms are pretty easy to wire up normally!
Problems can occur if it is on a service contract like with ADT etc.
I am sure you can get some pet proof pir sensors that do not pick up animals under about 40kg, replacing your existing pir's with the pet proof ones would be much easier0 -
It should not be that expensive if you have existing motion sensor in the same room as where you want to fit the vibration sensor.
Whoever does it should be able to use the same wiring.
Have you thought about changing the sensor(s) to the animal friendly type ? It may be a better option. Take a look here

It was suggested to us by an alarm company that we could fit our PIR's upside down because of our cat moving around?? Haven't had an alarm fitted yet though.

Thanks for the advice, looked at the website Alan & do I buy the same amount of sensors that I have in my house eg. 6 then replace the current one's with PIR?
If the above is the case, can I move one motion sensor one into the conservatory? or is that getting complicated! - the cats dont go in there during night.
Thanks again0 -

I assume your current motion sensors (PIR) are standard IR type and not animal friendly. If that is the case then you can simply replace them all with animal friendly versions and that should solve the problem.
Other types of sensor typically used are contact type for doors and vibration type for windows.
If you do want to move one its just a matter of extending the wiring so it should not be to difficult.0
