Breakdown would be very unlikely to be covered under warranty.

If you want peace of mind, shop around for breakdown cover.

There are a number to choose from, AA, RAC, Green Flag, etc. etc.

    Google it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    2 1/2 year old BMW?

    You definitely need breakdown cover!

If you feel the car is reliable and you don't mind paying upfront for a breakdown and claiming it back.

Then Autoaid is a good option

Check with your nearest BMW dealer - you definitely have the balance of the original 3 year warranty and should also have the BMW Roadside Assistance.

Check too if the original or previous owner had a Service package/deal - as they are transferable also.

I was delighted to find that I had all services included/pre-paid by the previous owner and the deal still had over 9 months to run.

Nobody will phone you or contact you to tell you this - so you need to check - it's valid at any BMW dealer in the whole of Europe.

At the end of the 3 years you should be contacted by BMW to offer you to extend both the warranty and the Roadside Assistance.

It's much more comprehensive than anything the AA or RAC can provide as it's valid Europe-wide.

But then if you don't intend taking your car out of the country perhaps you don't need that level of cover.

Hyundai include it with their warranty.

Also if you have a Renault, Ford or Mercedes, having the car serviced at a main dealer entitles you to free breakdown cover.

Your car will have BMW assist until the warranty runs out, so no you don't need breakdown cover, unless you specifically want extra cover over the basic.

    Yay - a winner!!!!

That'll be £52.50 plus VAT for Professional Advice. LOL ;)

Seriously I'm very happy to hear that.

Everyone who buys a used BMW should check, because as I said the dealer most likely won't voluntarily tell you. But some of course will.
