Game 'Reward'Card

Last week I caved in and bought my children a pre-owned Nintendo DS plus a pre-owned game from the Game store in Portsmouth. I had two of my three children with me. When I went to pay the assistant asked me if I had a reward card. I replied 'no' and then he went on about the card and how I could save £2.50 once I spend £100. Given that I had already paid £80 he pointed out that I wouldn't need to spend that much more to qualify for this 'reward'. I agreed and signed the terms and conditions. However, once I went to pay, I noticed another £3 was added to the bill! I asked him what that was for and he said it was for the 'reward' card. I couldn't believe it! He claimed that he had told me and maybe he did, but most probably under his breath. I made it quite clear that I thought it was outrageous and that I had never had to pay for a reward card before. Because I had my children with me and they were running riot on the instore Wii I didn't try and get my money back. However, I spent the next 48 hours fuming about it. I hate being made a fool out of. How could I possibly be saving £2.50 when I have paid £3 for the privilege? Has any one else come across this and do you think I can still get my money back? I know it's just £3 but it's the principle of the thing.
My advice? Keep well away from this store and NEVER agree to a reward card.
Cheers!

I have had a reward card for several years and I definitely did not pay for it. Maybe this is a new policy or something?

When I got my card, they were charging £3 but taking £3 off the bill as a managers discount (essentially free).
If you're not happy, write to their head office and/or the store manager. I'm sure they won't quibble over £3. - Or take the goods back and ask for a refund unless they refund your £30 -
i never payed for mine either,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

When Games first started they did the reward card thing and didnt charge for it so it was a decent thing to have if you spent alot on games as you could gain points. Then 3/4 years ago they decided to start charing £3 for a games reward card, people who already had a card were not asked to pay this. This card is a total rip off as you said and tbh Game as a whole is a rip off. There games can often be found for £10 cheaper on the high street and alot cheaper on the net. The game card only pays off if you spend a hell of alot on games.
My advice is either buy you games stuff online (much cheaper) or through another store like gamestation who i think also have a card system but even if they dont they are almost always at least £5 cheaper.Offical MSE Fantasy League Member:beer:0
