I now have 13 current/regular saver accounts with minimum monthly funding requirements  (plus another 2 with no such requirements)

As I like to be in control, I don't use SOs but do the funding/switching manually each month. Only takes about 30 minutes :)
  • Thanks for all of the replies - I am and have been in IT for 40 years.

Banking software just seems prosaic. Imagine a world where we didn't have to beat the system to get out of it what was intended!!! I have spent my IT life doing just that !!! Producing software that did what the users wanted.

The fuzzy logic I refer to is software that has tolerances in it that works out that you are getting a regular payment from xxxxxxx but occasionally it comes twice a month.

I have now set up SO to 'beat' the system. :j

They'd do it if it was to their advantage.

Actually they came close to a good answer by paying interest at the end of the first working day. If they ran the qualifying month from the 2nd working day to the 1st, i.e. from one interest payment to the next, that would work well for almost everybody. You could set up SOs on the 1st of the month, they'd always go on the 1st working day, and they'd always count towards the month just ending.
