Scottish Power -new fix, cheaper than old
Options
Just switched to brand new fixed tariff with Scottish Power through USwitch yesterday (Mon).
Switched to Scottish Power Online Fixed Price Energy November 2014.
This tariff is so new it isn't on Scottish Power's website yet, but should be there later today (Tue) I was told, although it's released to brokers like USwitch earlier.
The rates for this new tariff are lower than previous tariff it replaces, Scottish Power Online Fixed Price Energy October 2014 tariff.
Making a big saving compared with my old E.ON Energy Plan tariff.

Hi,
mmm, strange, I've been on it since December 2012, it was lauched July 2012.
Are sure it isn't the October 2014?
Have a look here, previous products, no longer available, 4 from bottom, Fixed Energy section.
You maybe better check before switch takes place.0 -

Looks quite competitive when just looking at the unit prices.
But then I saw the standing charges - a whopping £250 a year for dual fuel
So possibly ok for high users, but probably not for anyone else.
As always, consult a comparsion site to find the best deal for you0 -
Ugh, I'm not looking forward to my current fixed tariff running out based on these "competitive" prices.0

Hi,Online Fixed Price Energy November
2014 tariff has gone live and replaced October 2014 tariff.

http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/pdf/m201411_OnlineFixedPriceEnergy.pdf
different title, though I do the July 2012 online.
They don't seem to offer all tariffs in the July 2013, and my one is not listed so can't compare prices, though looks as though they have hiked the standing charge 7p a day and cut some tariffs.0 -
Likewise I am on the same named tariff, but mine is the July 2012 version. I am dual fuel and Economy 7.
Doing a comparison.
The Standing charge for both gas and electricity is about £12 a year extra for each - compared to the Tier 1 cost(difference between Tier1 and Tier2 kWh price x 900/2680)
Peak electricity is 9.8% more expensive, but off-peak is 2.9% cheaper.
Gas is exactly the same price.
Unless I missed it, there is no discount for payment by DD and only £5.25 per fuel for ??
The old tariff gives a total of £32 in discounts (DD and on-line)0 -
Next day after starting this thread in July, I found rates quoted by USwitch were different to rates on Scottish Power website for London (not sure about other areas), no wonder there was such a big annual saving of £250+.
I don't believe that discrepancy has changed.
Should be interesting to see whether we get USwitch quoted rates or Scottish Power quoted rates giving ~£50 less annual saving at around £200 annual saving in the end.
But USwitch was notified and I don't believe discrepancy has changed.0 -
I am on the Online Fixed September 2014 no standing charge tariff .
Just done the calculations and I would have to use 13000 kwh more on gas and 5000 kwh on electric to break even so for the sake of a month extra I will stick with my present tariff .0
