Ex left, Bailiffs called, Statutory Declaration Help please

My ex left this house a month ago. My ex has unpaid car offence fines. He has supposedly sorted this out but has lied about a number of things .., important things.
Bailiffs dropped a letter last month saying they were going to call again re the car fines. They called on Friday just as I collected my younger son immediately before going away for weekend. My 17 year old (with special needs) was in. He told them my ex had left the house, they said they'd be back in 7 days to take furniture. Needless to say he's petrified
I have been told to make a statutory declaration to say my OH has left and take it to a solicitors to be witnessed for £5. But I don't know how to word it.
I have looked online but haven't found anything useful yet.
Has anyone done this?

Actually it's very simple. Just say: the defendant, X, no longer resides at this property, and hasnt done so since, y. All property on the premises beong to me,z. And any action to be taken against the defendant should not be carried out at this address. The witnessing bit makes it legally bnding (IE if you lie, you could be liable)
They say that, as its a common excuse, and they want to get paid.
Important, are these bailiffs or debt collectors. You need to find out. Bailiffs will act once a court awards the costs to your ex, debt collectors try their luck all the time.0 -
I was trying to work that out. The letters come from Collectica. The fines were awarded against my ex about three years ago. There has been a problem with payments he made on a payment card not being credited to his fines. But he also hasn't paid them at all for some months. So he went to court and was in trouble about that recently. By this time he had already moved out of my property (and I have definitely paid for all my furniture). He told me it was resolved. Supposedly he's contacted Collectica today and they are going to contact the courts. But he hedged when I asked him if he'd given them his new address and given the amount of nasty surprises I've had, I wouldn't be surprised to find he hasn't phoned them at all.., or didn't go to court to sort it out when he said he did.
So I need to protect myself.0 -
Can I suggest you try posting in the DFW section of the boards? (Not that you're not welcome here...!) Dealing with debt collectors is a regular topic there.Mortgage when started: £330,995
