Thanks for your posts, they have been so helpful. So buying a nook seems the best option, now to consider £40 for backlight or clip on light??? I've got enough in my pound pot for the cheaper version so my sensible side is telling me to do that :)

    Thanks all

I have downloaded a lot of my books into the calibre software, it it just as easy to upload them onto the nook?
Save books on your pc, connect nook using usb supplied and drag and drop. You can also log into the Barnes and Noble shop on the nook and download books direct, just like kindle.

BTW the URL you want for barnes and noble in uk is this http://uk.nook.com/ . Google just finds the USA B&N and you can't get those books in UK.

Probably the easiest method is to get nook for PC and use that to sync files (books) which will then store them locally on PC. You can then copy them to nook or where ever you want. Note you normally have to close Nook for PC or wait a bit for newly selected books to become available to sync. Do it too soon and it just says there is fault.

Alternately you can use the kindle method where all the books are in you B&N library, either on your Nook or archived. But this stores them in a hidden drive on the Nook so you can't then save them to PC to back them up.

BTW for free e-books this is quite comprehensive
