Just a barcode or other PII (name etc)
I ask because it will affect how you go to print, with just a barcode you can get the batch of 1000 done then keep them in hand, adding a name means you'll be doing them incrementally as people join up.
The run is small enough to do yourself with a zebra type printer with special cards, under £1 each. However the charity sector might want to cut costs in which case print your own on A4 paper, cut and laminate. That also lets you add security features eg scratch panels and holograms inexpensively.
Any idea what format barcode you want?
I've been doing something similar to this for events industry accreditation for a while so might have useful tips if you want to print in house.0 -

no name, just a straight barcode, not sure which format, but simple numbers only then will be linked on till system. The futures bright the future is Ginger0 -

In which case you've three options - an id card print shop, buy a mono zebra printer with a stack of blanks, or go DIY and use a barcode font (free ones available), print to business card size using a mail merge, cut, and use a card sized laminating pouch. Total cost £60 plus time, depends what you're rich in, money or time.
