oak worktop - maintenance

I'm currently looking for ideas for our new kitchen and really like the look of an oak worktop and belfast sink.

However I'm worried this is a bad combination! So two questions, firstly are wooden worktops OK in terms of maintenance and durability and secondly is a belfast sink asking for trouble?

too many comps..not enough time!

Why? The seed has been sown from somewhere that this is the case. Why do you think they are a bad combination?

Yes they are fine. Just ensure they are oiled at least twice before fitting, oiled again afterwards and then oiled at regular intervals thereafter. They need to be able to move too to cater for normal expansion and contraction of a natural material. No a Belfast sink isn't asking for trouble. Again - what makes you think that and why should it be? They are heavy mind and as all kitchens settle with time after installation then the chances are that the sink base unit will settle more than the rest after about 6 months. Make sure your installer will visit within his price after about 6 months to carry out any adjustments that may be required (usually to doors) after settlement. The belfast sink sealant will probably need redoing too.

    Cheers
