Personal Trainers @ Virgin Active - Please help

Hi,
I signed up to a personal training program in March and was due to end in June (so I thought).
I signed up to a 3 month program. Before I signed up I was promised a diet plan and a workout program – this was the main reason why I decided to choose my personal trainer.
I complaint at the beginning of June that I was unhappy with results and I want to cancel, my personal trainer said to me that’s fine but you are in contract with Virgin, we sat down and discussed this matter in detail (my idea) and we agreed that at the end of the month if I am unhappy I will go ahead and cancel ahead of July, however if I feel different I will mention to you that I want to continue, he was happy with this conclusion.
July starts and I’ve notified my personal trainer I want to quit he said well you are still in contract so you have to pay for this months, that is when I took my complaint further, I was then told under my terms and conditions you have to cancel by the 17th, I was never by my personal trainer that I should have cancelled by the 17th.
I wrote a letter notifying the gym that at the beginning of my contract I was promised that I would receive a diet plan & a workout program which after 3 months I still have not received and that I have evidence via text messages sent that this was the case, I even have evidence that I told my personal trainer I want to quit and at no point he never said you need to have quit before the 17th (why would he, I guess)
They've disregarded it and said regardless you still owe £146 for July for my personal trainer.
In a nutshell I feel miss-lead with this agreement as I thought I’d be getting a comprehensive diet plan and workout program which I didn't, when I expressed the desire to quit he didn't really inform me very well how I should go about cancelling my agreement. What can I do?
Thank you in advance

When you joined VA you would have signed a contract. Read it as your cancellation rights will be clearly stated. I assume you read the contract before signing??
Initially if you have any problems make an appointment to see the general manager at your club.0 -
as art is saying.
What did you sign?0
