HTC - messages won't load

Hi all,
I have an HTC Sensation XE and have been on contract with it for about 18 months.
However, over the weekend one of my text message threads has suddenly stopped opening and I can't access it now to read full messages.
Is this common and does anyone have a solution?

Has it reached maximum limit? Go to message settings and remove any limits on thread size0
