How much paint for hall and stairs?

Hi

Could anyone give me a very rough guestimate of how much paint I'd need to paint the hallways and stairwells of my house? I'd like to get the colour mixed up so it would be good to know where to begin, and none of the paint calculators I can find take stairwells into account. Its a small Edwardian terrace with a dormer on top, so a total of two hallways (on the ground and first floor) and two sets of stairs.

Many thanks!

My crystal ball is, frankly, failing to enlighten me on the area requiring to be painted. Without some measurements it will continue to do so. :D

Hee hee, fair enough! I can measure lengths of hallways, but please excuse my ignorance and tell me what other measurements I need- I can't measure ceiling heights on stairwells because they're too blooming high!

A rough guess will do or perhaps some pics. Edwardian properties come in all sorts of sizes.

Also we would need to know if you were changing colours or just renewing .
If you changed colours , dark to light or light to dark

I going to be painting my Hall and stairs but its a large 5 bedder with a large hallway . But we are keeping the the same colour , I will be using a standard Dulux matt in soft Peach ( I just paint , am told which colour to buy )

So it will be one coat and I will buy 3 x 2.5 litre tins . This will allow me to return one tin if not required but will have one tin upstairs and one down stairs if I can persuade a daughter to pick up a roller.

Then do it in sections..drop a length of string from the top, or use a cheap laser measure?
To state the obvious, you simply need to calculate the area by multiplying length x height.
Since a typical stairwell is vaguely triangular, the area will be approximately half the measured rectangular area using length x height.
PS: if you can't measure it because of the height, then how do you intend to access it to paint it?

Ok, so my rough calculations are as follows:

The ground floor hall 3.60m long by 1.5m wide, ceiling height2.7m.

There is a straight run of stairs up to the first floor. Thehall on the first floor is 4.5m long by 1.7m wide, ceiling height2.5m

Another set of stairs go up to a landing on the second floor about1m square with a ceiling height of 2.2m.

One of the ground floor walls is a very stong colour, which I'dlike to paint a lighter colour. The rest on that floor are an off white.

The first floor walls will be half old walls painted in a dark colour thatI want to make lighter, and half new, freshly plastered walls.

The stairs up to the second will be new, freshly plastered walls,as will the second floor landing.

I can't send pics unfortunately, I'm away from home and the secondset of stairs aren't even in yet! I'm foolishly trying to get aheadof the game...
