Question about Tesco 0% purchases card

Jani9
Jani9 Posts: 35 Forumite
Hi guys,

Just a quick question really.

I always have enough money in my account to pay for food, fuel and the usual day to day purchases.

I see Tesco are doing a 0% purchases card for 18 months.

Are there any benefits for me to pay for things with the credit card and then pay them off at the end of the month?

Sorry if its a stupid question :o

Not really. You could do that with any card and not pay interest.

The smart way to use a 0% purchases card is use it for purchases, make just above min payments), put the money you would have used to pay it off in an interest earning account and then pay off in full before the end of the promo period.

Yes, I was looking at this myself and think I'll be ordering it soon.

Clubcard points for using the card.
4x as many if the card is used for Tesco purchases.
18 months interest free on purchases.

One benefit of spending on any credit card rather than paying cash is that you will have additional protection when buying things online in addition to the interest free period provided by all cards. (plus, used wisely it will improve your credit rating).

I use a Tesco Clubcard Credit Card for day-to-day purchases, and to put any fuel I use for work onto it, mainly for the clubcard points.

Can some explain how long you have to make the purchase that qualifies for 18 months 0% charges from account opening? I cant seem to find this Information.

    Thanks in advance.

You also have the benefit of adding to your credit profile. Do you have any other credit cards, a mortgage or a loan?

Maybe you have answered correctly but let me rephrase the question,

for example balance transfer with most CC that qualifies for example interest free period has to be carried out with 30 days of account opening in some case.

would that be the same with this or like you are suggesting, I can apply for the card now and continue to make purchase until 18 months later when I dont have to pay any interest?

If they haven't said there's a limit on when purchases can be made then I would assume it is for the whole 18 months (but would stop a little earlier to avoid attracting any interest).
