Euro car park and Wetherspoon pub

oh dear, yesteday we were very hot, bothered and busting for the loo. Turned off the A3, headed for Petersfield and found the Red Lion pub. Parked the car and dashed in. Refreshed, fed and watered, came out to find a parking ticket from Euro car parks. In our haste we had not noticed the singular pay £1 and display. We've got a £40 pay now or £70 pay later ticket. If I pay by cheque it's £2.50 surcharge, if by credit card theres a surchage too. I've read this web page and really don't know whether to: a) pay £40 cheque to Euro; b) pay £1 cash to Euro; c) ignore everything but keep the paperwork.

Do none of those things. Wait until you get a Notice to Keeper in the post, and then come back here for help in appealing. Do NOT contact Euro.Je suis Charlie.0

Or
d) Pay £1 to the pub, as it's their car park, not Euro's
e) Appeal on the basis that the charge does not reflect the losses to the landowner. When that's rejected, appeal to POPLA and win.
P.S. As per bazster, wait for the NtK, as long as you are the registered keeper. If it's a hire/lease/company car, you should appeal before the lease company gets involved (and arbitrarily charges you for the pleasure).0 -
thank you both. I am the registered keeper so no worries there. I have phoned Wetherspoons Customer Service and offered them £1. She said it was between myself and Euro. Thank you for advice, will sit and do nothing.0

Just be aware that this Notice to Keeper could take up to 8 weeks to arrive.Je suis Charlie.0

It's worthwhile to call the pub directly & speak to the manager as they will be able to get it cancelled. In fact I would have gone straight back in to the pub when I found the ticket on the car. The website says merely that the pub "Has parking" not that they charge for it. I expect that customers get the charge refunded. http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-red-lion-petersfield0 -
Once you get the NtK and send in the soft appeal you might want to ask :
" Why do Euro Car Park vehicles think it's OK for them to park in council Pay & Display spaces in Worthing without paying ? Are they really that hypocritical. "
Note the second question does not have a question mark as it's a rhetorical question !0
