Artytarty, I'm sorry to hear about your cat.
Bessie definitely became less active - she stopped going upstairs around the time we got the diagnosis. The main sign we had at first was that she was breathing very heavily and just didn't seem right. I guess your cat could have had heart problems, maybe even a stroke? That was something the vets warned us was a possibility.0 -

So sorry to hear of your loss, she will be remember fondly I'm sure. My Lily has a stage one heart murmur and I was told its actually quite common in cats, a lot of them can live to happy old ages without bother but it can progress into something more sinister. Nothing we can do about it except take her for check ups regularly:heart2:0
