Barclaycard PPI payout after one letter

My husband wrote to Barclaycard asking them to look into the ppi on his barclaycard account as he believed it was missold, reason was that it was never explained. They wrote back within a week asking us to fill out a Financial Ombudsman questionnaire. This was at the beginning of June. We were going to fill the form in when we got back from our holiday which was yesterday, however whilst we were away they posted a letter to say our complaint was valid and they have credited our card with £6700. Phoned them today and a cheque is in the post for the credited amount now.
Wondered if anyone else has experienced this. We never did fill in the questionnaire, nor did we sign anything to accept the offer, just a three line letter to them asking them to look into it.
We are very pleased with it though!

Whilst they are waiting for the form, they may have found something on their own files that indicated an issue or there was enough in your original letter for them to decide to pay out.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
