Dispute With Boori over poor Quality and Unsafe Babies Cot

Hi Guys,
I dunno quite where I stand here so any info/advice would be greatfully accepted,
My mother in law Purchased a sold wood Cotbed and changing table for the birth of my baby girl who is now 1 and half years old. Both are part of the classic heritage teak range at Boori.
The Cotbed set cost her in excess of £600, It was purchased because not only does it change from cot to cotbed, it changes in to a toddler bed and eventually a single bed.
The problem I have had with it only started along with my daughters teething, she has been using the top strap to chew on naturally... However I began to notice a lot of painful pus filled blisters on her tongue and around her mouth and chin, these affected her eating and were a bit of a mystery to me. Obviously she is a baby and Cannot let me know where they came from.
Germolene soon cleared up her little face but I had to see a health visitor about her inner mouth. It was brushed off as viral as per. Until one morning I leaned in to get my daughter from her cot she had something in her mouth, it was a huge chewed splint of wood and there it was obscured from my sight a large piece of the strapping was missing what I could only describe as its treated topcoat. My daughter had been able to tear it off with all of her 4 teeth.
Naturally i was furious and wrote to Boori who replied offering a replacement strap of wood for aesthetic reasons free of charge.at this point they reccommended I buy a rubber rail from amazon costing "only £40".This made me even more angry . I never wrote because of how it looked, I wrote because it was a danger to my baby.
I kept all of the paperwork for it I would need it if I were using all stages of this bed. So on looking through it all nowhere did it recommend or even advertise the use of a rubber rail.
I wrote them again to tell them this and to describe my dismay at their lack of regard for safety, I can only describe it as preying on the weak, babies can't tell you There's something wrong and that was what made it so despicable.
I wrote again to tell them exactly that. And to demand a replacement with the (Now reccomended) rails included.
They won't budge without original purchase details... these I am unable to get Ever!!!.For various reasons. My argument is still the same its a Boori branded Product. Boori made it and therefore they are responsible for any flaws or design faults. I t should be their responsibility to rectify this problem, and because it was a gift basically I don't have the right to ask anything of them. That cant be right can it?
Thanks for any advice in advance
:-)

Aye we have horses that do the same with stable doors.
Put something on it to cover it during this short period in her life when she is teething.0 -
You have to be kidding, right?
Your baby is chewing the thing, if a dog chewed my laptop power lead I wouldn't blame HP because they made the lead!
You need to use appropriate protection, wood isn't resistant to being gnawed on by an infant. If your infant is going at it like a beaver, you need the protection strips.
Take it as far as you want, but they're spot on correct. Well done to them for not bowing to pressure to fix a problem that doesn't exist.0 -
The manufacturer doesn't have to do anything at all for you as you are not the one who purchased it. Normally anything of this nature should be dealt with by the retailer not the manufacturer but again as you didn't buy it you have no contract with them.
Also even the retailer doesn't have to do anything without proof of purchase regardless of who made the purchase.0 -
If you want a remedy, you need proof of purchase, and your remedy needs to be sought from the retailer, not the manufacturer.
Just because you have something with their brand name on, without proof of purchase you can't prove that you bought it from an authorised reseller. For all they know you bought it on eBay or it could be stolen goods.
Also, you have no contract with either the seller or the manufacturer as you didn't purchase the item, so again, another valid reason for them not to deal with you.
As it stands, a cot bed is not for chewing on. The fact is, many babies will chew on the rails, and that's why these teething covers exist. It's certainly not the manufacturers job to make the cotbed into a teething device.
Also, you seem shocked that your child has bitten wood off with just four teeth. May I suggest you pop a finger in her mouth and see just how powerful those teeth are.0
