WD External Hard Drive Partition

Could some please tell me how I could partition/Split my 1TB external hard drive into 2.
I want to use the same hard drive to record stuff of my skybox f5 satellitte receiver and the second partition to save and play my Nintendo Wii games off.
How do I go ahead with splitting the drive in 2.
Also can I use this cable to connect both devices at the same time?
