Haha! Nah, no fear of that because OP clearly knows best, and those of us who actually spend embarassingly large amounts of our time mucking around with elderly Golfs are obviously misinformed0 -
I've got a mk1 caddy, even rarer than a golf, op, do you want to buy it - I'll do you a cut price deal £15k sound ok?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It looks to me that you are a naive, ill-informed person that doesn't listen to advice, and is soon parted from your money due to this, because you have a habit of purchasing vehicles that are not properly vetted, and fail at or soon after purchase, so you have nobody to blame, other than yourself, for trying to purchase a mk2 for £4k !!!
Do you have the word 'mug' tattoo'ed across your forehead?
Awesome, Ratboy, just Awesome. Take a chill pill and maybe get that bipolar condition diagnosed.0 -
I will leave you all to argue amongst yourselves. Again thanks to those whom genuinely gave advice without prejudice and trying to flame me.

you didn't ask for advice, you asked for people to agree with your stance and anyone that disagreed was dismissed, there is a differenceThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hey, only trying to educate you a little!

It could get interesting if the dealer sells it for £1k less than he sold it to the OP and goes after the OP for his losses.0

I'd love to see the argument that allows the dealer to 'go after' the OP for losses, I think the OP should recover his costs from the dealer in the dealer illegally witholding the OP's money.you didn't ask for advice, you asked for people to agree with your stance and

Nope, I think the opening post was asking for advice and when you gave it incorrectly then it was at that point it wasn't listened to. In doing so you all got upset because of it - always two sides to every story. There is a difference to your view of the thread and mine for example but that doesn't make me wrong......right...?0 -

I gave my opinion that a deposit by default is non returnable and is used to stop a dealer selling the car - if it was a private sale where I had agreed to buy a car, paid a deposit and then changed my mind, I would not expect the deposit back - and i don't think the situation is any different with a dealer, you put a deposit down to take it out of circulation...
at what point do you think I got upset?! given i posted once when the thread was still on track (then tried to sell my rare motor to the op) - it was the op that posted about one thing, then changed the story slightly to try and justify the stance, then dug in even further, if you don't want advice and different opinions you shouldn't ask on a public forum if you are going to get upset when someone points out the mistakes and flaws...This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
