Breadmaker with normal shaped loaf?

I think most breadmakers do tall loaves, it's how they're made. I just do the same as pink-winged (same model) and cut the ends off. You can't tell the difference.0

I think it probably will be, it's been that price for at least a month now and you will save money in the long run...I do, not only by baking the bread but also by not having to nip out to the shops for bread and buying something else as well!

Thank you, the valid point about not buying something else has completed the fact this is something well worth buying, had a bread machine whilst still with the ex he never liked it and it got given away:mad:

I've recently got the MR one and do like it, but was looking at the Panasonic one in John Lewis the other day out of sheer nosiness and it does make a "normal-shaped" loaf. It costs £99.99 though:eek: so I won't be investing in one for the time being!0

That's how I feel ivyleaf.
From reading the comments on here I'd love a panasonic! I bought my MR (on offer for 14.99 last October :j ) to see if I liked breadmaking and whether or not the machine would end up relegated to the back of a cupboard.
I do like it, we use it almost daily and it's more than paid for itself.......but £100 to upgrade!
I think I'll stay with my trusty Morphy Richards one for now!

Hi
I've only posted on this forum a few times. I have a cheapie bm I bought in Aldi, the brand is delta and it makes loaves the right way up. The paddles don't move though, so you do end up with a couple of holes in the bottom. Think it was around £25 last year.

Hi Deb, when we were looking at the ones in John Lewis we could see that the SD252, where you have to add things like seeds or nuts/dried fruit manually, baked the loaf the usual way up - i.e., you could see by looking at the bread pan that it would make a loaf the same shape as a "Tin" or "Pan" loaf from the baker's. The £99.99 one, (SD255) which adds the seeds etc automatically, was much narrower, and my husband said it surely must make the loaf tall and thin, like the Morphy Richards one does. We couldn't look properly as it was on a lower shelf so we couldn't lift the lid to look inside. But then someone who worked in that department came along, so I asked him, and he assured us that it does indeed make a loaf the "right" shape, even though it looked as if there wouldn't be room in the machine.
If there is a John Lewis near you it would be worth going along to have a look if you are thinking of ordering one, just to be on the safe side!
HTH!
P.S Empire Direct are selling it for £84.99 which is slightly less frightening!0 -
We bought the Aldi one as well, works ok, but prefer the folding paddle of our MR. It does however suggest in the Aldi booklet to remove the paddles after the last kneading cycle. Bit of a fiddle, but better than the two gaping holes in the bottom! Also, the larger machines don't seem very good when you only want a smaller loaf, which of course is where the MR scores, at least the compact model.0

I've got the Panasonic one which hasn't got the automatic nut thing ( it has a beeper instead that goes off so you know when to put nuts and seeds in.) I've only ever made the largest size loaf in it. It does come out much taller than it is long if that makes any sense. But we've been slicing it off the bottom which makes it easier to cut. It does make gorgeous bread, pizza dough, fruit loaves etc.0
