Who can access your bank account details ???

Hello everyone...

I am seeking help via other posts on here...

I would like to know, if I was to consider a DMP in the future, I would be looking to hide any possessions I had in a rented storage solution just incase the DMP got out of hand and debt enforcers came knocking on my door etc.... sorry if I am sounding paranoid...

Assuming I have got myself a new bank account that is seperate from my creditcards and loan.... completely independant from them all.... does anyone have the ability to check any other bank account I have access too ?? As accessing a storage solution requires you to continue payments via a direct debit from your own bank account... This could then reveal I have storage, hence my possessions could be under threat...

Many thanks in advance... your help is always appreciated.

It takes a really bad situation for bailiffs to start knocking, if you have a suitable DMP in place I'd hope you'd be fine.

As to the question - Debt collectors are entitled to run a credit search on you, this would reveal the existence of the account. Whether or not they'd inquire further into it is anybodies guess.

If the debts go to court you'd have to reveal it though, or risk jail time with uncle bubba.

Not if it's a savings account as they're not reported to credit files.

If its a current account they'd know about it, most likely.

As the poster above says though, if it goes to court you must not hide the account from the court under any circumstances.

Rather than spend money unnecessarily (on the storage facility), would it not be better to use that money to help keep the DMP under control?
  • My reasoning for getting storage was to put some of the very few possessions that I own away from the creditors just incase they sell the debts to dubious debt collectors whilst I am attempting to set up a Debt management plan...

I am still researching all my options at the moment... one thing is for sure, I would rather give my possessions to charity or sell them, than let some group of creditors get their hands on it...

Sounds like I might need to find an alternative other than having a direct debit in my name on a new bank account highlighting I have storage....

Sounds a rather dangerous strategy to me. If I were you, I would assume that the debt collectors and the courts have seen it all, and that trying to outwit them in any form will just land you in even deeper dooh-daah.
