SWIFT transfer

Hi,

A few days back I just asked the bank to do a swift transfer to pay for an insurance located in Dubai.

The payment was done via a correspondent bank in US. The bank asked me the for the details the form asked for and I filled everything (physically in the bank in front of the bank officials). The transaction failed, and I ended up paying £25 to the bank.

Now, a few days later I did an online swift transfer online on the banks portal myself by filling the details with my whatever details the insurance company had given to me and the transaction passed and the insurance recd the money.

I need to the get the 25gbp back from the bank for the first failed transaction.

Can i fight for it , and they are supposed to give it to me because a transaction failed because they advised me to fill the form !?

If the fault was with the bank sending the payment then yes, you should get the money back.

If the fault was out of their control (i.e. with the intermediary or with the details you gave them) then the charge will probably stand (although it's still worth putting in a complaint - I quite regularly refund payment fees if I feel the customer wasn't at fault).

    Kind regards,

If the details were correct, I don't see why one has to pay for the intermediary bank's fault. The customer deals with their bank. Everything else is the bank's business, not the customer's.
