Surely the Scottish courts would also throw it out, as it relates to an incident outside their jurisdiction? If so, that's strange justice. And no, extradition doesn't apply to civil matters, even if Scotland were independent.
Is it time to register my car to a Scottish address (even though it must obviously be insured to the address where I live)?
Yes, strange justice indeed, Slithy Tove.
I was of course being facetious in my reference to extradition.
But of course if you're serious about registering your car in Scotland then I could perhaps set up in business providing cover addresses for you folks from the south - much the same as the residents of Guernsey or Sark do for offshore companies, and Liberia and Panama do for shipping.
It really is silly and the law is an !!!.0 -
So since I live in Scotland and my car is registered in Scotland whenever I go to England on holiday I can park where I want, even sleep all night in a motorway car park, with impunity?
Other than council run parking of course.0 -

Yes - that seems to be the long and the short of it.
That's my interpretation anyhow.
I like your username by the way - applies to me too.0 -
We don't endorse abuse of car parks, if there is fair and reasonable p&d charge you should pay it. But I may go against some here on this but its my personal opinion. I would never pay to use a services, if you need 4 or even 8 hours sleep so be it, safety first always!
This two hours disgrace puts people in danger, how many have been killed because of tiredness? How many have left the services early because of this ridiculous two hours?
Sorry for the rantWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

I absolutely agree with Stroma about not abusing sensibly priced car parks.
However my experiences of Motorway Services Car Parks are usually for breaks on long journeys - Aberdeen to Dover for example.
I now will not hesitate to stay over the 2 hours 'allowed' if we're taking a nap after a meal.
Mrs Iceweasel has often been so concerned by the cameras and the guys walking around wearing hi-viz vests with clip-boards, taking note of vehicle reg numbers, that we have actually moved on to the next services when I would have preferred to stay a little longer.
We tend to travel by night on these trips and we are certainly not costing the services anything by 'overstaying' an extra hour or so.
Neither are we denying anyone a space.
What do the motorway signs say -
"Tiredness Kills - Take a Break."0
