EDF any good?

Hi all,
We are in the south and in April moved to new flat which has EDF supply. We pay £15 a month via DD as standard, they work out the 'real' bill when we tell EDF the readings.
We have a washing machine, dishwasher, computer, flatscreen tv and only 1 energy saving lightbulb as the other lighting installed doesn't allow energy saving bulbs.
What can we do to cut back and also, are EDF good or not really? We get cash discount of £3.91 per quarter for providing our readings online each month.
Thanks

You need to get onto a realistic Direct Debit payment, or alternatively pay on receipt of the bill.
Not sure about EDF but some providers give discounts for DD payments and as with you at present discounts for managing your own account online.
Once you know your annual usage in kwh, use a comparison site.
Then insulate.0 -
on a standard tariff in some parts of the south edf are just about the most expensive.0

I'm with EDF - not sure about how competitive their prices are, as I haven't done any comparisons lately.
They give you nectar points for being with them, being on the DD scheme and also for submitting your own readings.

I am also with EDF - I am on a good frozen tariff, and make the most out of it by paying by DD and getting lots of Nectar points for being with them and for reading my own meters every quarter (Read and Reward Scheme). I also can't rate their customer service highly enough. Unlike British Gas, you can actually get through to them, it's an 0800 number until late in the evening, and they are polite and helpful. Each time I had a problem we came to a solution together - like last time they told me my monthly payments were going up and I rang them to say they were calculated way too highly. Within 5 minutes they had adjusted them. They will not be the cheapest one for everyone but on the basis of customer service alone I would recommend them.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

We are on DD already as stated. We consider it realistic as there are only 2 of us. As stated we already get discounts for readings we will submit online.
We can't insulate as we rent...:oMFW #185

We're with EDF but they are now one of the most expensive. British Gas Click3 are cheapest - but their service may not be as good . . . .?0

I had an EDF rep hover on my doorstep yesterday - I was unimpressed. He had no literature to leave with me, and when I initially told him I was in the middle of my tea and about to go out, was insistent he'd take no time at all. I saw him again at the flats a good 3 or so hours later where he'd obviously found some takers!
Initially he pointed out that their charges (assume using the same kw/H units as my current provider?) were much cheaper...
I wanted to do some online reseach care of links thru MSE and he was not keen... and I see why.
Even measured against the like-for-like Capped/Fixed rates, they appear bottom of each list I looked at (I used 2 comparison sites).
I won't be changing!- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

After being on the phone to them for 20 mins chasing up the 5000 nectar points they were supposed to give me on signup, which were on offer if joining before March 31st, I definitely would not recommend them!
Their customer service isn't the greatest, they leave you hanging on for ages, that's once you've already waited 5 mins to actually speak to someone, and now i'm waiting for a manager to call me back as the customer service advisor didn't seem to know her a**e from her elbow.
Not impressed at all and have already been on uswitch looking for a cheaper alternative, of which there were 4 or 5 in my area - Dorset.
Best of luck with your search xx0
