water on new wooden floors - help!!

My beautiful solid oak floor was laid yesterday.... i vaccuumed it this morning and got a bucket of warm water into the room to mop. The bucket handle broke and water spilled everywhere. I quickly got some towels and wiped the floor dry within 5 mins.
The edges of the planks look a bit dark and are wet to touch. I dried them a bit with a hair dryer. They still look darker :( have i damaged them?

Will there be a long term consequence of this? Like moisture near floorboards causing probs etc?

You'll only know once they're fully dried out, which in the current heat shouldn't take too long.

N.B. I had a new carpet in the lounge yesterday, and it's curry night tonight so I'm expecting lamb tikka to get trodden in :(

The only long term problem may be a slight change in colour which is unlikely. Open the windows and let it dry naturally. Mopping the floor will damage it !.

Why are you mopping a solid oak floor?

I think the general advice is to keep them dry, perhaps a wipe over with a slightly damp cloth from time to time. Another thing to watch is plant pots which can leak water or let damp through porous trays.

Mopping because it's very dusty. I used a near dry mop and it all dried up in 10 mins
