Would a small kitchen put you off
Comments
-
When I rented a flat the kitchen was about 2m x 4m (maybe smaller)
But it had all the essentials;
Oven + gas hob + extractor hood
Sink + drainage board
Fridge freezer
Space for either washing machine or dishwasher (I had washing machine)
There was 1 twin wall unit and 2 single wall units, providing 4 eye level cupboards, whilst the under the sink was utilised as a twin cupboard, with another 3 single units placed in the remaining spaces around the edges innetween the oven and fridge. It had 3 drawers, and then 1m x 2-3m metres of open floor space so no room really for a table.
This was ample for me as a singleton... Although limited worktop space put me off having things like microwaves or the kind of table top utensils which you don't store away. My toaster and kettles were small, and I had a mini food processor.
If you're all about entertaining and catering for several people... Then this would probably be too small. But it was fine for me.:www: Progress Report :www:

My kitchen is small but planned to perfection, we have a range cooker, a built in fridge and a built in dishwasher, washer and dryer plus freezer are in a utility room. Our cupboards go up to the ceiling and it leads into a dining room so we don't need a table in there.0

Echoing some others, size wouldn't put me off, but lack of oven would. Not just lack of space (I guess the space could be made), but when viewing, I'd be put off by the current complete lack of an oven.
If you can do the planning thing and get one put in, it prevents people having to visualize what the kitchen could look like.
Obviously there's different measurements and fittings and what not, but my fan-assisted, 2-shelf, multi-functional electric oven was something like £96 in this year's January sales (Argos). And it wasn't even the cheapest.
I'd be slightly put off by lack of space for a full-size standing one-piece fridge/freezer unit (or 'slimline' equivalent), but unlike the oven, it wouldn't be a deal breaker.
Do you have an IKEA anywhere near you? If so, go and have a look at some of their show kitchens. What they can do in the tiniest of spaces amazes me
No Ikea anywhere near me, would have to be a day trip. Will have a look at their website later though, I'm sure they'll have some ideas on there
There is space for a full size fridge-freezer in the cubby hole.
I must take a look at the price of these ovens at Argos, I never knew there would be ones that cheap. I'd normally go for a mid-priced one but a cheap one would do as I wouldn't really be using it often.
I sometimes bake and use the oven setting of the combination microwave oven for that. I actually don't use the microwave function at all because it doesn't seem good to be zapping food with all that radiation.0 -
Just had a look at the ovens
Currys
Indesit – black 179.99
Beko - stainless steel 189.99
Belling – white 199 - so I'd be needing white to match the rest of the kitchen.
Argos
Bush - white – 119.99, so that's the cheapest. Then there's the cost of fitting it0 -

If that's the AE6BF, Just checked the manual - it's 3200 watts maximum. That's (just) permissible to run off a 13 amp plug, so a cooker point isn't needed. The plug must be accessible for emergency / maintenance though.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Just say there's a space for it under the worktop that you have the stools under. There are ones in B&Q that don't need housing.0

I think it would put me off, unless it was possible to create a good kitchen/diner by taking down the wall between the dining room and kitchen. I find that the kitchen is where most of my family (3 teenagers) spend time with each other - otherwise they are in their own rooms or out somewhere.
However, there are many people who would not be put off by a small kitchen. Everyone has their own 'must haves'. My fianc! would rate a double garage over a large kitchen any day!Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes (Oscar Wilde)

No as i have had one smaller & more horrible looking then yours lol!.
It depends how much you use the kitchen & how many people live with you.
I would want a separate/screened of kitchen as if guests come round don't want them seeing all my dirty dishes, also some cooking can leave strong smells lingering about so that would put me off as well.
I was in the process of knocking thru & having a massive kitchen/diner area (plans are in my house forum), but had a rethink because of the above!.
Hope you sort your plans out soon & please put up some picsNo one said it was gonna be easy!0 -

Sounds identical to mine, I do hanker after a small breakfast bar in the kitchen.0 -
In a three-bed semi I wouldn't expect a huge kitchen, but I couldn't live without a proper oven!0
