Back door not opening

Hi,
I have a pvc rear door which I locked a couple of days ago and now it won't open. It's a yale lock and you have to lift it up to lock the door. Any ideas what could have gone wrong or how to sort it out? Is it a lock smith jobbie or can I sort this out myself?
Any help is appreciated.

Locking: Close door, lift handle, release handle, insert key in cylinder, turn key, remove key
Unlocking: Insert key, turn key, remove key, depress handle, open door
Is that a fair description of the operation of your door? And if so, how far do you get with unlocking? You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
is it warped by the recent heat?
my back door is south facing and currently I have to open it out of the sun to cool it down, or use the front door:)63 mortgage payments to go.

Even perfectly toe and heeled doors stick in this heat, if you need to open it just yank hard ish but lifting the door up at the same time0
