hand held fans - any ideas?

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I thought I'd ask :).

Does anyone know where I can pick up hand-held fans (like the ones you get on Spanish holidays, or the leaf-shape ones, anything really).

We have desk fans etc at home, right now they are on a lot. My DD is performing this weekend, in an old church hall with no air con, theres no breeze to speak of outside, and by afternoon its hot air (if its anything like yesterday) and even with all the doors and windows to the hall open, and electric fans blowing, its stifling in there.

So I'm off out shopping today, to see if I can find any hand-held fans to help keep people cool. Any ideas where I should be looking? Has anyone seen any on their recent shopping trips?

Ta,

Some clever folks have taken to selling them in/around tube stations in this 'heat wave' ..not much help if you're outside of london though.

I'm think I saw some little battery operated hand held fans in wilko.

or for an MSE option you could have a bit of a crafty time and make some with your kids:

Yeah, definetly seen some in Wilkinsons. :)

There were some on the counter at a local garden centre yesterday, I nearly bought one, but thought that I would use it much, I'm wishing I had now! Phew it's warm! :rotfl:

Have you got any pound shops near you? They usually have them around this time. They won't be great quality but should do for the performance

My local Dunelm had some in this week, 99p. No idea if they are any good though, they looked quite small.

thank you guys :) - yes I can hit the poundshops, Wilkos, and Dunelm today before showtime. I know Halfords has some of the battery-powered mini ones too.

I bought a battery-operated on from sainsbugs last year but it was more than £1.

I got a hand held fan from Boots a couple of months ago in the travel accessories section. They might have sold out now though with the hot weather!

Or if you're really stuck I've seen them sold in baby retailers with clip on clips to go onto pushchairs. Of course if you're adding the word baby to anything you're tripling the price - but if everywhere else is sold out it might be worth a thought.

thanks again folks, I've just nipped to Halfords to get a couple for the girls to take to rehearsal before the shows today - £1.49 each, batteries included, and they seem to do the job fine. They are a little noisy, so I'll have a look for another type somewhere else I think this afternoon before I have to endure the heat in there this evening :).
